When I first jumped off the Kibble bandwagon in 2017, I began cooking for my dogs using long grained rice, hamburger and broccoli or Kale shaved in. Portion size and proportion of meat to base and veggie is critical when you prepare your food at home for your pets. I used the portion calculator from Carnivora to find the right balance so that dogs had healthy weight and did not become too thin or too fat. I also added coconut oil or butter if regular hamburger wasn't fatty enough. carnivora supplements breeder British Columbia

There has been some confusion over what dogs can and can't eat for vegetables. I looked at the purpose. Anti-cancer and recovery for my pets, so I went with Broccoli and Kale as my standard go to. I have used steamed carrots, fresh celery chopped, tomatoes, peas, spinach, sweet potatoes, yams, orange red and yellow peppers.
Among the NO's:
Asparagus, Onions Leeks, Chives because it does damage to the blood vessels and (except medicinal) -Mushrooms!

I didn't know dogs ate fruit!
Bananas are our snack food for the puppies now between meal times instead of store bought treats. We have also used apples, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.
I use the berries sparingly with the veggie choice of the day and a base of rice or squash or potato to go with the thawed, crushed bone and organ meat choice.
Fruits to avoid are
Avocado, Cherries and Grapes!
I mix it all up with supplements by eyeball but you will want to use the KetoPet calculator on their website to get the portions right at first which is critical to the diet. Link is further down this page. breeder carnivora supplements British Columbia
I add yogurt or applesauce or pumpkin if I want to ensure their stools (poop) are firm but not too firm and rotate it throughout the weekly diet.
If the ground beef or meat choice does not have enough fat content, I will add two tablespoons of coconut oil or real butter.
I add sardines in water at least twice a week.
I have added an egg to the bulk of the food preparation for all the dogs I am feeding but do NOT feed just one egg each individually by bowl. Go to approved sources for your ingredients list, portion size, preparation rules and ideas, the link to recipes from a qualified vet, Dr. Karen Becker:

My first year off Kibble was cooking for the dogs. Adult Dogs loved it. Was as time consuming as cooking for my human family and just as expensive. The only saving was that we ate mostly the same things as the dogs, so I just made more of it.
I get raw marrow bones cut to about 1 inch pieces (this one is bigger) for the dogs. It acts as their natural toothbrush and the marrow gives necessary ingredients optimizing their health and well being as noted in research available at this time. I feed once daily - use it as my puppy sitter go to (if I have to leave the property to run errands - they never even notice that I've left!) Usual sources are butchers but have found them in small town grocer freezers.
RAW, FROZEN chicken thighs
After 9 months old when canines are solid in the gums and the jaws can crunch the bones, I begin feeding a raw frozen chicken thigh to the dogs at least once a day if not twice.
This is the closest I can get to a species appropriate food source they haven't hunted down and ripped to pieces themselves.
